Folgarida develops as a tourist destination in 1965, when at that time the mass tourism boom was about to explode. In the Municipality of Dimaro, this section of wooded region located at the eighth curve of the road that leads to the Campo Carlo Magno Pass, seems to get its name Folgarida from the Latin filicaretum "place of ferns", term that marks its strong mission as place of nature.

Also in Val di Sole, the vast wooded slopes, in fact, allowed skiing to develop, like in nearby Madonna di Campiglio... to the extent that one of the first advertising slogans for the new resort in the Sixties was in fact: ...skiing at Campiglio, at half price!

Today, the ski lifts and the tourist facilities (25 hotels in addition to residential hotels, timeshares and tourism hotel residences totalling over 8,500 beds) integrate with the natural environment, minimizing the need to drive for a mountain vacation for the whole family.
